Breaking: Manchester United sign Nemanja Matic from Chelsea

The Serbian departs Stamford Bridge having played a pivotal role in two Premier League title triumphs, as well as winning the League Cup with the Blues.
Those trophies all came in his second spell at the club, after re-joining Chelsea in early 2014 to add steel and strength to the midfield.
During his first period at the club, in 2009/10, he made three substitute appearances in a championship-winning season. He moved to Benfica in January 2011 as part of the deal which brought David Luiz to Stamford Bridge.
Three years later, Matic returned from the Portuguese club and his physical presence and ability to win the ball back quickly made him an important member of the Chelsea side. He showed how important he would be to the side in his first Premier League start away at Manchester City, in which he produced a man-of-the match display.
On a night when we won the game and became the first team to stop City scoring at their home ground for more than three years, Matic was superb and came out on top in his individual battle with Yaya Toure. He also gave Chelsea supporters a first glimpse of his long-range shooting ability when he crashed a left-footed strike against the post.
Matic was ineligible to play for us in the Champions League that season, as we reached the semi-finals, but he started every Premier League game for the remainder of the season, including a 4-0 win over Tottenham, a 6-0 thumping of Arsenal and a 2-0 triumph at Anfield, which severely dented the home side’s title aspirations.
With Cesc Fabregas brought in ahead of the following campaign, the pair formed an effective partnership as the two deeper-lying midfielders in a 4-2-3-1 formation. Matic scored his first goal for Chelsea in an early-season 6-3 win at Everton and followed it up with the winner in a Champions League game against Sporting Lisbon.
He played in every league match until the start of December when he was suspended for our trip to Newcastle, an afternoon on which we suffered our first defeat of the campaign.
A sending-off against Burnley, when he was harshly punished for reacting to a terrible tackle, ruled Matic out of our League Cup final win over Tottenham, but his emotional pre-match team-talk helped inspire the side to glory, and he quickly returned for some important victories.
Matic’s role in protecting the back four was vital as the team produced a brilliant defensive display in a goalless draw at Arsenal which edged us closer to the title. After the trophy was eventually secured, courtesy of a win over Crystal Palace, he was one of six Chelsea players named in the 2014/15 PFA Team of the Season.
In what was a difficult 2015/16 campaign for the whole side, Matic made his 100th Chelsea appearance in a 1-0 win against Arsenal and scored a wonderful goal away at Everton.
The arrival of Antonio Conte last season led to a tactical change and though the Italian experimented with different formations early on, Matic was constantly selected. The decision to move to a 3-4-3, with the Serbian partnering N’Golo Kante, led to a 13-game winning sequence and by the end of October Matic had an impressive four assists to his name.
It was during that run he made his 100th Premier League appearance at Middlesbrough and he played every league game up until the away win at Manchester City in December, which he missed through injury.
In the reverse fixture against Pep Guardiola’s side, Matic was introduced at half-time and his presence enabled us to nullify City’s attack and successfully preserve our 2-1 advantage.
The midfielder had to wait until April for his first goal of the season but the Wembley thunderbolt in our FA Cup semi-final win over Tottenham is one which will live long in the memory.

Stella Damasus' sweet birthday message to her hubby, Ademinokan

Popular film maker and ex husband of actress, Doris Simeon, Daniel Ademinokan is a year older today and his now sweetheart, Stella Damasus went out of her way to shower  him with much love.
The actress who is about the most hated actress in the industry took to her Instagram page early this morning to celebrate her boo, in whose arms she had found love after many trials.
Stella who is very conscious of the fact that haters abound everywhere even on her page, smartly dropped her post and disabled the comments lest the vultures devoured her.
In her birthday post for hubby, Stella simply wished Daniel, the love of her life a very happy birthday and made it clear that although she had so much to tell him, she would rather tell him in person and not on the social media.
Her reason for this decision might not be far from the anger that has been displayed at the couple for constantly throwing their ‘great love’ in the face of Doris who is the ex wife of Daniel and mother of his only son David!

He said his unborn children would one day learn about his legacies as the first African artistes to perform at the reggae festival. 'My kids will be taught in school how their father was the first African artiste to perform at the biggest reggae festival in the world. If you believe it you can achieve it...I pray for my colleagues/African artistes to experience the same open doors.'

But first and foremost, this one will go down in the history books and this is something I will tell my kids — that I was the first African artiste to perform on the Reggae Sumfest stage in Jamaica. I am so happy to be here in a country I have dreamed about so much, sharing in this vibrant culture and learning more about these beautiful people.”Patoranking couldn't wait to excite Jamaican audience with his electrifying performance.
His hit My Woman, My Everything, has truly earned him a legion of fans in Jamaica, with his recognisable dancehall flavour on top of a undeniable Afrobeat rhythm.
“I have always wanted to be the voice of the voiceless. So my music and lyrics must always say something for those who can't speak for whatever reason. With My Woman, My Everything, I strongly believe there is someone... a taximan, a bus driver and conductor, who needs the words to express himself to the woman in his life, and this is the perfect track. I have to give big respect to Wande Coal who collaborated with me on that track and provided such a great hook. For Jamaicans to know and love my track is just another amazing thing for me. I grew up on reggae and dancehall music. I knew them before I knew about hip hop. I knew of Jamaica before so many other countries in the world. So for my music to be available to Jamaicans is just another moment for me.”

Why celebrity marriages are crashing *It's nobody's business---Uche Elendu

Uche Elendu
Popular film maker and founder of Nollywood Igbo Film Festival,NIFA,Nze Harris Chuma recently addressed the issue of increasing divorce rate in Nigeria, especially in the entertainment, blaming the
malaise on the inability of the female celebrities to separate the world of make-believe from their marriages.
Chuma's voiced his opinion after news of the annulment of actress Tonto Dikeh's marriage to her ex- husband, Olakunle Churchill went viral on the Internet few weeks ago as well as the sustained marital crisis between actress Mercy Aigbe and her estranged husband, Lanre Gentry.
Chuma said 'the problem with our colleagues is that they have failed to separate the world of make- believe from their marriages."
"A movie is scripted and the actors act according to the script. But in marriages, there are many flaws that spring up even when you are not expecting it," he added
However, frowning at Chuma's comments, actress Uche Elendu said 'it’s not anyone’s business."
“I don’t think it’s anyone’s business. We can pray for them. Nollywood is made up of different people from different backgrounds with different orientations. Did we help them to make their choice of life partners? Why should we now discuss their choice to go their separate ways?” Uche Elendu queried
Reacting in the same vein, Alex Eyengho, Vice President of the International Federation of Film Producers Association, FIAPF, advised celebrity couples to remain truthful to their marriage vows. “Celebrity couples should know that they are in the eyes of the public. They have fans and are almost always seen as role models and as such must endeavour to always do that which is right before man and God,” he advised.

Adeleke's victory at the polls, another hih score for democracy, says Adeshina

Femi Adeshia with Sen. Adeleke
Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity Femi Adesina Thursday in Abuja said Sen. Adeleke’s victory at the polls reflects a new era of “bridge building’’ in Nigeria’s democracy that will further strengthen political institutions for future elections.
Adesina, who received the newly sworn in Senator at the Presidential Villa, said the overwhelming electoral victory demonstrated that the voters of Osun-West Senatorial District jettisoned party affiliations to choose a preferred candidate that would serve them in the National Assembly.
“The expectations from you will be obviously very high because your late brother, Sen. Isiaka Adeleke, was very popular, large-hearted and kind to a lot of people, and I know you are getting ready to fill the big shoes,’’ Adesina said.
The Special Adviser said Nigeria’s democracy had undergone many stress tests over the years, with commendable outcomes, assuring the senator that his victory at the polls had shown the world that voters were getting more conscious of their right to choose their leaders.
In his remarks, Sen. Adeleke said he inherited the goodwill of his late elder brother across Osun State, and the nation, pointing out that he was well received at the senate and offered the brother’s office in the complex.
“I was having fun during the campaign and enjoying my dance because my brother had done 70 per cent of the job with his historical goodwill right from when he became an Executive Governor in 1991. I was always with him. I want to follow his footsteps and may God help me,’’ he added.
Adeleke said he had already put a framework in place to ensure that all his promises to the electorate were fully delivered, which includes sustaining the legacy of promoting good education through scholarships and healthcare for the people, especially the under privileged.
“My brother laid a good foundation for me, but I would have preferred if he was around and had probably decided to retire at a good old age, instead of stepping into his shoes when he passed on,’’ he said.
The Senator said he would always support a bottom-up style of development in the country that pays close attention to the grassroots by strengthening the Local Government Councils.

He commended the Special Adviser for the maturity, simplicity and clarity of his messages to Nigerians from the Presidential Villa, praying for the quick recovery and safe return of President Muhammadu Buhari.

Bobby Benson resurrects in his son, Tony Benson ...as he takes centre stage at O’jez

ON Sunday, July 30, son of legendary highlife musician, Bobby Benson, Tony Benson, will be on call at the monthly Elders’ Forum highlife music revivalist event.
The monthly show being put together by O’jez Entertainment and Evergreen Musical Company is designed to recognize musicians and other persons that have all contributed to Nigeria’ rich cultural heritage.
Bobby Benson was one Nigeria’s Godfather of highlife. He provided effective apprenticeship for the first generation of highlife musicians; he developed the scene and set the pace for its revolution. He gave highlife music so much relevance in Nigeria and had many great musicians such as Victor Olaiya, Roy Chicago, Billy Friday, Zeal Onyia, Eddy Okonta, Baby Face Paul and Rex Lawson among others under his wings in the early stages of their careers.
Bobby Benson was reputed to be the first highlife musician in Nigeria to own a club and hotel which became the hub of entertainment for the elites in the 50’s.
Many didn’t know that Gentleman Bobby as he was fondly called by fans and admirers was also a comedian, magician and a showman.
His son Tony Benson has ensured that the family legacy doesn’t fade away by remaining consistent in keeping the flame of highlife music alive.

Song theft saga: 2face should apologize to me, says Blackface

2face's former band mate, Blackface who has been on his neck for stealing his song is definitely not ready to let go of the accusations. This is because the latter, in a recent interview with HipTv, insisted that the Áfrican Queen' crooner owns him an apology.
The aggrieved singer who has continually faulted 2face for neither acknowledging nor rewarding him for his role in writing his evergreen song, 'African Queen', has said that he is not willing to let go of the accusations.
Speaking on Faze’s move to broker peace between himself and 2face, Blackface aid, “Faze is my friend and he is going to do his own bit. But, one thing that he does not know is that who feels it, knows it. He didn’t write the song, I did. So he does not know what I am talking about. It is easy for him to call for peace. But then, it is the duty of the offender to apologise for his action. I can’t keep quiet about what happened because I haven’t offended anybody. I have not stolen anybody’s song.”
He blamed the Federal Government for not instituting an appropriate punishment for individuals who are involved in song theft.
According to him, “Had the Federal Government introduced an appropriate punishment for stealing other people’s songs, many music artistes would be in trouble today. If the penalty required offenders to spend some years in jail, many so-called big artistes would be in prison by now.”
“Some of them steal songs from fellow musicians based in the country or abroad and pass them off as their own. This is very bad for culture and the creative sector. It is also bad enough for the honest and hard working Nigerian artiste who goes through a lot of trouble to survive.“Whatever the government decides, the courts are there to ensure that justice prevails. If you find yourself on the wrong side of the law, you will have to accept the consequence of your actions,”he said.

Meanwhile, 2face has not reacted to Blackface's demand for apology from him.

Why I dropped out of school for music---ConA’Stone

Fast rising Nigerian rapper, Babalola Oriyomi a.k.a ConA’stone surely has found solace in music after he dropped out of the university due to financial constraints to take his destiny into his own hands.
ConA'stone, who premiered the video for his recently released track, ‘Igbanladogi’ , revealed that when he left the university in 2010, he was not dreaming of going into music. But divine providence has brought him this far. According to him, he was a 200-level University of Jos Business Administration undergraduate before he dropped out of school as a result of financial constraints.
At the exotic Celebration Gardens in GRA, Ikeja, Lagos, where the premiere was held, the budding singer demonstrated great enthusiasm in becoming the next big artiste to emerge from Nigeria.
The evening kicked off on a high tempo: harnessing the dexterity of veteran DJ Humility on the turntables to woo the interest of invited guests. This display of musical alchemy was followed by a series of back-to-back performances from promising acts like Atinuke, Jhybo, SOD and Beambo Taylor. These artistes graced the stage with a touch of showmanship in delivering their musical styles and influences.
ConA’Stone would later take the stage to perform ‘Igbanladogi’. Flanked by energetic dancers in traditional attires, they thrilled the audience with their choreographed over rhythmic synths and rap verses, conveying the essence of the song. A budding career currently managed by Wulfpac Entertainment Stables, ConA’Stone debuted on the musical landscape in 2013. He has so far released flavoured hip hop tracks like ‘Don’t Doubt Me’ and ‘Pedestrian Crossing’, both exploring the ‘Ibile-rap’, a sub genre of hip hop which experiments on the heavy use of Yoruba vernacular in rap verses.

Lagos State govt plans to generate 3000MW

Lagos State Governor, Mr Akinwunmi Ambode on Monday said his administration has already embarked on reform aimed at generating 3000MW of power within the next few years, adding that the initiative, which is on course, would go a long way in scaling up the State’s economy and make life more comfortable for the people.
Speaking in Ikeja while declaring open the 7th Annual Public Lecture of the Lagos State Public Service Chapter (LSPSC) of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) with the theme “Lagos@50: Unlocking Its Economic Potentials For Sustainable Development,” Governor Ambode said that adequate power supply was a key factor needed to unlock the economic potentials of the State, saying that the sector remained strategic in reducing the cost of doing business and improving the living condition of Lagosians.
He described the theme of the lecture as apt and in sync with the resolve of his administration to identify, explore and exploit the untapped potentials of the Lagos economy, which according to him, was why the State Government was adopting the approach of strategic, innovative and long term thinking and planning.
The Governor added that with high population growth of 3.2 per cent annually, high immigration rate estimated to be one of the highest in the world and rapid urbanization, the State Government was not oblivious of the fact that the most effective and efficient way to unlock the economic potentials of Lagos is to open up the economy for private enterprise to thrive, which was why his administration had been delivering first class infrastructure and putting in place right policies to ensure business-friendly environment.

Young Odijie Irabor makes Nigeria proud in automotive mechatronics engneering in Germany

Engr Odijie Irabor has finally achieved his life-long dream by qualifying as a technician in Automotive Mechatronics (Kraftfahrzeugmeachtronik).
He was presented his certificate on Wednesday (12 July) in the Western German city of Marl after successfully completing a 3-year training course at the SBH Bildungsgesellschaft mbH Gelsenkirchen, during which he acquired skills across automotive-specific mechanics, electronics, communication and advanced control.
Odijie flashes the victory sign after achieving his life-long dream by qualifying as a technician in Automotive Mechatronics, a new technical field that offers him employment opportunities not only in Europe but across the globe
Mechatronics (Automotive) engineering is a multidisciplinary field that involves the integration of automotive mechanical and electronic systems. The course was introduced because of the increasing complexity of automobiles, entailing the integration of computer and communication electronics into their mechanical systems. It’s one of the newest branches of engineering, and has far-reaching applications to every sector of society. The name Mechatronics stems from mechanical and electronics and is a relatively new approach to product design and development for future generation of hybrid system cars that are expected to hit German roads in 2025, merging the principles of electrical, mechanical, computer and industrial engineering. To say the least, all over the world, specialists in new system of Automotive Mechatronics are being sought after.
Engr Odijie underwent the training under Germany’s Dual Vocational Training system. As part of the dual system, you will attend classes at a vocational school and receive on-the-job training at cars Production Company in German language.
During a chat with Engr Irabor Odijie, he said undergoing the training in German language and keeping up with the performance of his German colleagues makes him feel good. “When I started the course, I was a bit scared not because of my lack of technical knowledge but because of the language,” Odijie, who studied auto mechanics at the Benin Technical College, Benin-City, Nigeria, recalled. “Thanks to the Almighty God, I was able to catch up on the language and undergo the course successfully,” he added.Recounting how he got to study the course, he said. I was focused and dedicated to face any challenges with great resistance. I recalled when I passed my first exam to the greatest amazement of some students and lecturers to their least expectations, they teamed up against me and overturned my result. They wondered how I with little understanding of German language managed to passed when many Germans failed the exam they questioned. They said I must rewrite the exam. One of the lecturers called such action an aberration and advised me to go to lawyer. That was my early days experienced in the institute which I can never forget in my life in a hurry. I told the lecturer that though I am black but I am not stupid and that I will re-write it to prove them wrong which I did.
That single experienced made me more focused and dedicated. Whenever I remembered that I was on scholarship of over hundred thousand Eur which wouldn’t have been possible for me back home in Nigeria, I was always left with no options than to be more dedicated and that was obvious in second opportunity in the same exam and the result was even a better higher mark that marveled my critics. You could imagine how many lecturers attended church with me during a thanks giving celebration as the first Nigeria to have graduated of this new course that was introduced in 2015.

He was born and brought up in Isua Arue Uromi. Esan North East Local Government area of Edo state Nigeria. He attended Arue Primary School, Arue Secondary School and Benin Technical College where he studied Automobile Mechanical. He worked with EDEGBE MOTORS for a period of 7 years before relocating to Germany in 2011. Every attempt to work as a mechanic in Germany proved abortive because of the nature of modern day’s vehicle that run on electric, sensors and brainbox. He was left with no option than to go back to school with language barrier to battle with. But today, the rest is history.
Esan, Edo-State born automotive mechatronic engineer, advised young Africans in Germany to ensure that they get certified training in any areas of their interest because that will prepare them for a successful career in the employment market. “There is no way you will be unemployed if you have a good Ausbildung (training),” he said. “You will always find a good job as many companies in Germany already have acute problems training enough people for the continuation of their operations in the country,” he noted. “I advise every African living in Germany to learn something, because it is the lazy man that does the hardest job in Germany.”
