All is set for a suya carnival to
commemorate the ongoing celebrations of Lagos at 50.
Organizers of the edible-oriented
carnival are planning to break the world record by creating the
longest suya steak with the production of a single 50ft suya at the
carnival
Unveiling the carnival to the press,
Kehinde Talabi, who owns Suya Stops said the event which will hold at
Alausa, Ikeja, on Independence day, October 1, will be hosted in
conjunction with Lagos State Government.
According to him, the Lagos City Suya
Carnival will be annual event. “No where better than Lagos to
launch such a carnival. We will make the day grand by making a 50ft
long Suya steak, hence putting Lagos on the world map,” Talabi
said.
Speaking further, he said, " we
have been working tirelessly behind the curtains in the past few
months since we berthed this idea and with the full support of the
Lagos State Government through the Ministry of Arts and Culture, we
are sure Lagosians are in for a good ride."
Talabi who runs a chain of suya spots
says he already has a team of suya makers coming in from the North to
help achieve this feat, he also promises that everyone around will be
having a taste of the record breaking suya. "Though suya doesn't
have it's origin in Lagos, it would be agreed that Lagosians in
particular have an undying penchant for Suya. Interestingly, I run a
suya spot in Lagos and I can tell for a fact that it's one viable
business with so much intrigues and much more to showcase and imbibe
in our our tourism export," Talabi added.
