Nigerians have been called upon to come to the rescue of ailing reggae star, Yellow Banton who is currently battling cancer of the skin.
This call was made by veteran actress and broadcaster, Mabel Oboh through her non-governmental organization, Centre for Save Our Stars- the first NGO caring for Nigerian entertainers.
At a media chat at O'Jez Restaurant, National Stadium, Surulere, yesterday, Oboh alongside ‘Denge Pose’ crooner, Friday Igwe popularly known as Baba Fryo and Chinagorom Onuoha better known as Africa China appealed to the conscience of well-meaning Nigerians to support the ailing reggae star financially in order to undergo necessary surgery to stay alive.
According to Oboh, “We have done series of tests for Yellow Banton and we would still do more. We might lose him if nothing is done urgently. But we don’t want that to happen. So, we are pleading Nigerians to come to his rescue. A lot of entertainers are dying today because nobody is taking care of them. This begging and dying must stop. Many entertainers are in terrible health conditions and we just have to end this scourge. We are also encouraging them to save for a rainy day and stay off drugs and other ugly activities that would drain their pockets." She said that the reggae star needs about N6 million to undergo surgery as soon as possible before the cancer spreads to all parts of his body.
African China who is the foundation’s ambassador pleads: “I have been involved in this type of project about 19 years ago. It is what I am passionate about. If you remember the song, ‘SOS’ in the album, Mr. President,’ we campaigned for a girl. Thank God she is alive today. We need your support. It can happen to anybody. We are begging Nigerians to assist us, nothing is too small.”
Looking pale, Uti Nduka Kennedy a.k.a Yellow Banton said: "The wound has been there for long and its been growing. They told me it is cancer. It is still this same cancer that killed my elder brother who is also an albino like me. It ate up his eyes and his ears fell off."
This cancer is rampant with albinos. Please, I don’t want to die. Help me!

Popular film maker, Lancelot comes for Omotola, Genevieve, Jim Iyke, others A-list actors Says: 'They have failed Nollywood'

Popular movie director and producer, Lancelot Imasuen has lashed out at A-list actors in Nollywood, accusing them of neglecting the industry that brought them fame and fortune.
Lancelot's outburst is coming days after actress Rita Dominic criticized poorly produced Nigerian movies that are being over hyped and pushed to the cinemas to the disappointment of the lovers of Nigerian movies.
However, reacting to Rita Dominic's comment, which has since gone viral on social media, in a chat with HVP, the popular director agreed that not all Nollywood movies should make it to the cinemas. But he, however, condemned the platform which the actress used in voicing her opinions. “I agreed with Rita Dominic's statement that not all Nollywood movies should be taken to the cinemas. But what's the yardstick for measuring movies that should go to the cinemas? Sometimes, I have gone to the cinema to see different movies when I'm at home. And each time, I discovered that the films are in slow pace and they disconnect.”
The film director, however, stressed the need for the film makers to conduct internal censorship of their movies before taking them to the cinemas. “We should be very assiduous in building this industry. I have a problem with the platform that Rita Dominic used in airing her opinions. I'm sure she didn't anticipate the kind of huge reactions that followed her comment. The comment is coming at a time when we are expressing worry that the patronage of our local movies is dropping drastically,” Lancelot stated.
Speaking further, the film director blamed the A-list actors for their inability to give back to the industry that made them who they are today.
According to him, the A-list actors have failed to give back to the institution that brought them into the limelight. “A Nollywood star is today one of the most influential human beings on the earth. The same person has bagged national award, MON, dine and wine with the high and the mighty. How have they been able to use the platform that Nollywood provided for them to better the industry? An average Nollywood practitioner is a selfish person. Both the movie marketers and the actors are the big brands in Nollywood that have refused to support the growth of the industry. How many Nollywood stars have attracted major government attention to the industry? None, Nollywood has remained an orphan, where everybody comes and harness its potentials and abandoned it to its fate. It's sad.”
“ I don't expect any Nollywood star to come out and criticize anything Nollywood because they are also guilty of negligence of the industry. Some of them are feeling too big for the industry that made them. Who were they some years ago before Nollywood gave them the opportunity to shine,” he added.
Calling on A-list actors to come together and salvage the industry, Lancelot who has sojourned in the industry for more than two decades, said there is need for the big brands to give Nollywood a new face. “All the big brands that Nollywood have given so much fame and fortune, including RMD, Omotola, Genevieve, Jim Iyke, Stella Damasus, Kanayo O.Kanayo, Stephanie Linus-Okereke, Eucharia Anunobi among others should come together and give back to the industry. That's my clarion call to all of them,” said Lancelot. The film director also called on core Nollywood heads to come together to see how they can rebuild the industry such that investors can get return on investment.
He also lamented lack of the government's support for the industry, proposing a convoking of what he calls, “Nollywood Summit” , where practitioners and other stakeholders will come together and brainstorm on the way forward for the industry.
“The government have done nothing to protect the local producers. There is no kind of incentives that we enjoy or any encouragement in place to see that any film produced in Nigeria survives. The Nigerian film maker is an endangered specie as he cracks his head every now and then to come up with a story that the audience will appreciate. We need to understand that the environment in which we operate is so intense that it takes a miracle to even see one film out there.”

Ex-housemate, Ahneeka predicts Miracle as winner of N45m star prize

The on-going Big Brother Naija reality TV show continues to take interesting twists and turns which have kept viewers and housemates on the edges. With less than three weeks to the grand finale of the controversial TV show and with the aim of switching up the tempo of activities in the Big Brother house, ‘Biggie’, the invisible controller of the house, announced the dissolution of all disciplinary strikes meted out on housemates in a bid to reset activities in the game.
This means that CeeC, Lolu and Tobi who had two strikes each for flouting the house rules, now have clean slates to continue in the game.
With dramatic lighting and ninjas flanking the ‘throne’, housemates were asked to line up and queried on their experiences in the house thus far.
After querying each housemate on their excesses in the house so far, and announcing that there was no eviction for the night, ‘Biggie’ gave the housemates a choice to exit the game with N45million as severance pay, an offer none of them had the guts to take on.
In a latest development, evicted housemate, Ahneeka, in an interview with Olorisupergal TV, predicted with confidence that Miracle, will be the only housemate to cart home the ultimate prize of N45million. In her opinion, Miracle is the most eligible housemate for the prize because he is the strongest contender. “I see Miracle winning the show, I see him emerging the winner. I always nominated him for eviction when I was in the house because I saw him as a strong contender. When I was in the game I was all about me but now that I’m out I see he has what it takes. Miracle is a very smart person, he is funny in a weird way, I think he is determined enough to reach the N45million, I think he might get it.”
She also thinks Tobi may be the only strong contender to put Miracle on his toes.
“Tobi is also a strong contender because I see that he is now more open so that might get him closer to winning the N45million.” However, Khloe and Anto are back to the house by popular demand, having snuck in at 3am on Monday to mixed reactions from the housemates. Eleven housemates are currently competing for the ultimate prize.

Double deal from gospel singer, Aimee

Lagos-based gospel artiste, Rita Alakija, popularly called Aimee, has released a new album and a video. The new album, titled Increasing Grace, is like the climax of a soul journey for the singer who usually stylishly weaves the story of her life into her unending celebration of God.
Aimee describes as the climax of the inspiring story that she told in her first two albums – ‘Lost without You’ and ‘So Great’ while the new video, ‘Beautiful’, is from Increasing Grace, which has eight tracks.
In the album, Aimee, who is also a life coach and motivational speaker, showers praise on God and offers great verses that are bound to inspire listeners to higher grounds. The tracks are Heavenly Father, How Great, There is Healing, Amazing Love, Here You are Maranatha and I’m Safe, in which she featured Adaeze Adeoluwa.
Formerly a banker, Aimee’s asset is a powerful voice that gives justice to her message. The ease with which she delivers in all the tracks shows that music is natural with her. No wonder, she says she composes various types of songs but missionary art is her calling, hence, she focuses on gospel music.
She explains in an interview, , “Grace is about God’s unlimited favour. So, the album is inspired and rendered to be a blessing to the listener. It is saying that you can aspire more, you can inspire more and you can achieve more. A lot of the songs were birthed through fire. But I am just giving God praise because I have the cause to. There was a time I thought nothing beautiful could thrive around me again. Things were not working out in many areas. But God said I could make it and here I am against all odds. God removed my ugliness and make me whole again. Or, when you look at me, what do you see? A strong, beautiful woman.”

Jim Iyke finally finds love … as he returns to Nollywood

Nollywood bad boy, Jim Iyke, who took a long break from acting is due to return to the big screen on Friday, April 13, 2018 as the movie, “Lovebirds” hits the cinemas nationwide.
Produced by the popular film maker and director, Lancelot Imasuen, the romantic movie is shot in America about a year ago. It starred Jim Iyke falling in love with Stella Damasus' with daughter.
In chat with E-Daily, Lancelot said, the movie which also will premiere in Asaba, Owerri, Akure, Ibadan and Lagos, showcases another side of Jim Iyke. He added that the actor will be meeting his fans, sharing love and gifts this Easter period.
Starring alongside Stella Damasus and Joseph Benjamin, Jim Iyke who has since ventured into business has been missing on the big screen in recent times. But starring in this new movie as Damola marks a comeback to his first love-acting.
In the movie, two new actors including Felix Omotoshe, and Seirail, Nigerian-born America actor were also introduced to give Nigerians in diaspora a sense of belonging. “It's another unimaginable trailer for me, a romantic comedy. But this time, it’s deeper with stronger theme.”
For Lancelot, “Lovebirds” is a comeback movie for Jim Iyke, whom he said, had a swell time while they were shooting the movie in America. He described the six man-cast movie as “another unimaginable trailer from me, ”
“In this film, we were able to bring to rest, in-house conflict between the first generation diasporans that travelled out of Africa and their second generation kids that were born in America.”

Remarks by U.S. Consul General F. John Bray TechWomenMentoring Program for Nigerian Female STEM Leaders

Good morning everyone. It is an honor for me to welcome the 16-member delegation of senior tech executives and professionals from the Silicon Valley who promote STEM education and technology in the United States.
These delegation members represent organizations as diverse as Twitter, LinkedIn, Netflix, and Mozilla. Among them are also representatives of Autodesk, WomenCollege Tech, Stanford Graduate School of Business, Juniper Networks, FairrerSamani Group, Northgate Environmental Management, Jessica Dickinson Goodman Consulting, and the Institute of International Education.
In particular, I’d like to welcome Carolyn Ward, our colleague from the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs who is accompanying this group of tech leaders.
Our special thanks go to Cedar STEM & Entrepreneurship Hub of Lonadek for hosting this august gathering.
The American consulate is pleased to sponsor this series of seminars and trainings by leading women technology leaders from Nigeria and the United States who are actively advocating for women in science, engineering, and technology. I know everyone here cares about STEM education. That’s why you are here. The reason is simple: STEM education is the key foundation for any country’s economic success.
Sadly, many young women who pursue studies in STEM at tertiary institutions share stories of being grossly outnumbered by men. In workplaces, women in STEM fields face discriminatory practices and behaviors from colleagues and supervisors including compensation at lower levels than male counterparts for their labor. They also generally lack opportunities for coaching, mentoring, and growth compared to their male colleagues.
Here’s the blunt truth: without women’s inclusive participation, any gains in economic growth and development as well as advances in science and technology would be lopsided and unsustainable. Therefore, it is critical that women’s voices, at all levels, find representation in collaborative solutions that will have an impact on them.
The U.S. government is convinced that when barriers to women’s full participation in STEM fields are removed, women do better, families do better, countries do better, and the world does better. Whether at home or abroad, promoting women in STEM fields is a top priority of the U.S. government.
When Ambassador Symington opened the American Spacein Yaba in 2017, co-hosted by Co-Creation Hub (CCHUB), he pledged the U.S. government’s support for additional projects that might expand the use of technology in Nigeria.
We have since funded a number of projects to increase STEM education in different parts of the country. In October 2017, we hosted RoboRAVE, a robotics education program in Lagos and Abeokuta. Last December, we funded the establishment of a technology hub in Lagos that will host training and mentoring sessions for persons living with disabilities in various technology-based skills.
•The goal of encouraging the role of girls and women in STEM fields has been the cornerstone of the technology-learning programs funded by the U.S. Mission in Nigeria.
•More broadly, the United States has invested millions of dollars to directly advance gender equality across sub-Saharan Africa, through activities that promote political and economic opportunities for women, access to health and education services, and efforts to prevent and respond to gender-based violence.
•In 2011, the U.S. government introduced the TechWomen program to empower the next generation of women leaders in the technology field. This exchange program brings together women in Northern California with their counterparts in the Middle East, Central Asia, North Africa, and sub-Saharan Africa including Nigeria for a professional mentorship at leading technology companies in the U.S.
•I understand that some of the Nigerian Fellows of TechWomenprogram are in this room. I urge every female tech leader here today to meet with these alums and learn from them, particularly the application process for this prestigious exchange program.
•In closing, I strongly encourage everyone here to think broadly about ways you or your organizations can form partnerships and expand your network as women STEM leaders.
•I hope that you will all take what you learn and spread your knowledge beyond this group. I also hope today will serve as a valuable opportunity to pledge a strong commitment to inspiring the next generation of girl

RMD's advice to young actors

Veteran actor,  Richard Mofe Damijo has taken time to give a piece of advice to rising actor in Nollywood.  In his Instagram post, RMD as he's fondly called wrote, " Many times I’ve been asked what advice I have for young actors and lately I have come to realise that the best advice for anyone, irrespective of career path is to be intentional.
You do not wake up in the morning, have a bath, dress up nice and leave your house without an intention. You leave to either go to work, school, church, market, just take a walk, see a movie, whatever... The point is you step out with an intention. Even if all you want to do is “waka round” without going anywhere in particular, that in itself is still an intention. This same theory must be applicable in your life, BE INTENTIONAL. Do not live your life without an intention. Don’t enter a relationship without an intention. Don’t start a business without an intention. Don’t pursue a career without an intention.
Draw up a long term plan and have a short term one that will help you achieve it, then work towards the plan intentionally. So if you need my advice, it would be these 2 words “BE INTENTIONAL”. #rmdsaysso #elevatewithrmd #disownedthebook #disowned #beintentional

Lagos gears up for leather fair

The Lagos Leather Fair is a first of its kind in Nigeria for all the stakeholders along the leather value chain, and was created to identify the challenges facing the industry with the hope to discuss possible innovative and sustainable solutions.
The first edition held last year, and this year the fair is scheduled to hold on the 5th&6th of May, 2018 at the Federal Palace Hotel, Lagos. Founded by Femi Olayebi of FemiHandbags, the fair is a private initiative that seeks to promote leather designers by creating a networking platform to showcase their work and eventually provide the much-needed training for artisans that would essentially improve the general quality of our finished products.
Last year, over 2,500 people gathered for the first edition of the fair to learn from the various master classes, panel discussions and creative workshops. Attendees also got to shop and discover Made-in-Nigeria leather products from over 50 leather exhibitors. With the diverse local and international speakers such as Waheed Olagunju, SegunAwolowo, Muni Shonibare, Reni Folawiyo,TokunboOnagoruwa, ZainabAshadu, Robert Gussoni, Nelly Wandji, and not least of all the able representative of the Emir of Kano, AlhajiIsyaku Umar Tofa, the fair was educational and impactful.
The leather industry has been identified by the Bank of Industry to generate an annual income of N24.5 billion with limited support and also have the capacity to create over 700,000 direct and indirect jobs, therefore implying that the industry has not been maximized to its full potential.
According to the Minister of Science and Technology, Dr. OgbonnayaOnu, who spoke at the validation workshop on National Leather and Leather Products Policy held in Sokoto in January 2018, ‘the leather industry is the nation’s next gold mine and holds the key to industrial growth, jobs and wealth creation’. He also described the leather industry as ‘strategic in view of its importance in the economic diversification of the country’.
This year, the fair is themed ‘The New Possible’ as it will focus on the many possibilities and massive potential the Nigeria leather industry has to offer. To encourage up and coming designers, the “Emerging Designers Competition” has been introduced, and is aimed at giving young, aspiring leather designers an opportunity and a platform to showcase their work. The top 5 finalists will win a cash prize, a mentoring opportunity and a booth at the Fair.
According to Femi Olayebi (Founder, The Lagos Leather Fair), “Last year’s event was a real eye-opener for everyone. This year, we intend to explore the myriad possibilities before us and do what we can with what we have to own that space. The world is looking to Africa for answers and the time has come to position ourselves for real growth. At the end of the day it is really up to us ”.
The Lagos Leather Fair is a step in the right direction, bringing all the major players including leather designers, raw material producers, suppliers of machinery and equipment, manufacturers of finished goods, retailers and key government players to collectively forge a new path and explore ways to re-invent the leather industry.

Davido, Small Doctor Used KSA’s Lyrics Without Permission – Manager

King Sunny Ade’s manager, Clement Ige, is unhappy over the refusal of Small Doctor and Davido to take permission from KSA before they used his lyrics to create songs.
Speaking at Goldberg’s Ariya Repete Roundtable discourse in Abeokuta. Ige, who has worked with KSA for 40 years, identified certain things the younger artistes were doing wrong.
He stated, “They use English language to speak Yoruba. Like the young man who sang ‘makole marale.’ How do you build house before buying a land?” he asked.
Adding, he said, “Many of them don’t give credit to the original composer of the song they adopt. They just sing it without seeking permission. That’s a copyright infringement. It’s not done in developed societies.
“Till today, Small Doctor didn’t get our permission before and after singing ‘ijó tí m’ojó l’àná, tí wọn n’pariwo, oni nkọ, ola nkọ.’ And many of them are guilty of this. The Davido that used Sunny’s lyrics in his song didn’t even get it right and that’s because he didn’t ask for permission. If he did, we would have corrected him. What is ‘Kuluso ewe, agbagba ewe…?’ The line is actually ‘Seleru agbo, agbara agbo’. I know because I co-wrote the song!”

I was scared of women after my ugly experience with my ex-wife – Okafor, movie star

Nollywood actor, John Okafor, a.k.a Mr Ibu, does not pretend when it comes to the issue of marriage. And that's why when his first marriage crashed, he stayed away from women for six years before he found love again. The comic actor and producer will tell anyone that cares to listen that he married the most beautiful woman in the world. Call her his ‘first class' or ‘queen', Mr. Ibu believes that his latest wife, Stella Maris Okafor, is a compensation from God, after what he calls the ugly experience he had with his former wife. His story is inspiring...

New wife
I call her, my first class. I don't have anything to do with any woman out there that can be compared to my wife. I have the best wife in the whole world. You can quote me. This is because when you have a wife that has the key to your heart, a woman that is in charge of your memory card, what are you looking for again? She's a rare breed in the species of womenfolk. Sometimes, I say to God that ‘you saw my tribulations and you decided to bless me with this woman’. I was married before I met her but the marriage did not work out. But here I am today, living like somebody who is already in heaven. My wife's name is Stella Marries Chinyere Okafor. Anywhere you meet her, call her, Chibest or First Class. I want to popularize that name so that people can see the stuff she's made of. She's my first class in everything. She's the best cook I have ever met. In fact, she came up with a recipe known as 'Ibu Stew', which is currently enjoying patronage in Enugu, Awka and now Lagos. The stew has a very unique aroma that will make you to ask for some more. That woman from Mbaise, Imo State is a very wonderful woman.

Marriage because she's a good cook?
Not at all. When we started dating, I didn't know she's a very good cook. It was after she came into my life that I discovered the stuff she is made of. She's my wife, I don't sell shares. So, whatever testimonies I'm giving about her is real. She's the best woman I have ever met. If she provokes me by mistake, she cries throughout the day, and if I provoke and find it difficult to apologize to her, she will also cry throughout the day. Why wouldn't I give her the key to my heart? Do everything to please her!

Finding love again
Even if I die now, I will say 'God, thank you for giving me the love of my life.' I have practically experienced true love. But I'm not going to die any time soon. She has the mechanism to build new things in me. My children always copy intelligent people and she's one of them. I have grown-up children. My first son is married with kids; some have graduated from the university. She lacks nothing as my wife. But because of the nature of my job as I'm not always around, she would say she lacks, sometimes, my presence.

How she came into my life
There is this orientation from my mum about having respect for women. That's why each time I see any woman crying, I try to go close to her to find out why she's crying. I met my wife crying. She was seated alone in her world and I demanded to know why she was crying. Immediately, she showed me a text message from her ex- boyfriend which read, ‘Do not call this number again and do not come close to me in your life, this is the end. I'm fine, I'm satisfied with you. Do not come close to my house again. It's over.’ I was like, ‘is that why you are crying...? There are one thousand and one young men that see you as a beautiful woman’. I tried to console her, but little did I know that I'm one of those men that would come for her. Coincidentally, I was in Port Harcourt, and we were trying to find out something and she came to me. That's how it started. Soon, I discovered the rare qualities in her and I said to myself, 'Mr Ibu, this is your wife.' I wasted no time, as I dragged her to a corner and said to her, ‘Congratulations’. ‘Did I win anything?’ she exclaimed! I replied, ‘You won my heart’. It was amazing but, to her, the proposal came as a shock. Today, we are living together as husband and wife peacefully. I have been living with her since 1998. She has five children for me, while my ex-wife had four for me. But, unfortunately, she lost her first son, who was kidnapped then. He returned home before he died.

Failed marriage
We were not compatible. If you marry another man's wife, you are finished. You must suffer from the beginning of the marriage to the end, and when it ends in the long run, you cannot recuperate on time to find your rhythm, that's when you start begging. Compatibility is something that people don't really see on time when they talk about marriage. When you talk of love at first sight, that's when your attention is ceased from making proper investigation about the woman you want to spend the rest of your life with. Sometimes, it is difficult for men to find out who is actually their flesh and blood. They don't take their time to investigate properly before going into that spiritual and life contract called marriage. Women are so flexible; they can be manipulated any minute. In some churches today, most of the people pastors conduct deliverance on are women. That's the best way to say that women have very flexible hearts and can be manipulated. But I am a very different person. Because of the orientation I got from my mum, just give me few minutes, I will discover that woman. My former wife hailed from my home town. I tried my best to keep the marriage to avoid people blaming me because we hail from the same village. I allowed people out there to watch and complain about what was going on between us then. But God is good. My decision to take another wife was not just a day’s job. And it was accidental for the next choice. I thank God for everything that happened in my life. But my piece of advice to all young men out there is that they should take their time and try to find out who their would-be life partners really are. Do not pronounce anything, but go close to her and discover who she is before venturing into marriage.

After marriage crashed
Everybody knows my tribulations, temptations and sufferings. I tell my friends who have challenges in their marriages that, any time they are praying to God, they should ask Him to give them their own wives. When I saw my own, I knew and I got inspired. 29 people have married through me. It will be my pleasure to be part of anybody's success in marriage. If 29 people could marry through me and they are living in peace, what happens to me? Every woman wants to marry and settle down. But the question is: Who is my wife or who is my husband?

Bonding
If I'm not working, I am always with my family. I am a movie actor and locations take me outside Lagos. But each time I'm around, my children feel my presence.

How family sees him as comic actor
They always laugh and they are so happy to have me as their dad.

Wife as an actress
Yes, she an actress. What I do now is to guide her acting career. If I'm on set, she should not be on the same set with me. When I'm there, she should stay at home. It shouldn't be the case of when I'm there and she's not there too and the children are crying.

Love life
I was actually scared of women after my ugly experience with my former wife. I was scared to allow a woman come close to me. I stayed for six years without having anything to do with any woman. In Nollywood, I saw all the actresses that came around me as my sisters.

Anto Evicted from BBNaija House …as Big Brother reveals a new twist

It was the end of the road for Anto as she was voted out of the Big Brother Naija house during eviction show on Sunday, 18 March having only secured 5.28% of the total votes.
She becomes the 11th housemate to leave the house after she was nominated alongside fellow housemates, Tobi, Cee C, Miracle, Teddy A, Bam Bam, Alex and Lolu for possible eviction the week before.
While on stage with the show’s host, Ebuka Obi-Uchendu, Anto disclosed that she had a premonition she was going to be evicted that night, even though she had hopes of clinching the grand prize. When Ebuka asked who she thought nominated her, she quickly mentioned the duo of Cee C and Nina. It came as a bit of a surprise to her when it was revealed that it was indeed Cee C and Bam Bam.
On her experience in the house, she described it as “weird”, saying she thought it would be a bit easier but nonetheless grateful for the experience as she probably wouldn’t have the other housemates in any other situation.
Meanwhile, fans of the show were eager to know about her presumed ‘love triangle’ with Lolu and Tobi. In her response, Anto admitted that Tobi caught her eye first but she couldn’t bond with him as Cee C ‘grabbed’ him quickly in the game. She connected more with Lolu and said he would most probably be referred to as her romantic partner in the house.
It was not only Anto’s eviction that got viewers buzzing. During the show, Big Brother issued Tobi a strike for disregarding his rules and engaging in a conversation with Lolu and Anto over Cee C which Big Brother labelled conspiracy. This earned him a strike, bringing his total strikes to two.
Living up to the theme of the show, Ebuka announced that this week, the public will be voting to bring back two of their favourite evicted housemates. The two housemates that make it back into the House will return as individuals and will compete for the prize.
Sunday’s eviction show opened with a sultry performance by popular Nigerian singer and songwriter, Simi. She performed her hit songs, ‘Joromi’ and ‘O wa nbe’.
Voting begins on Monday at 6.30 pm, and viewers can vote via SMS, mobile and website. To vote via SMS, simple text the word "vote" followed by the name of housemate to 32052. Voting costs N30 per SMS. To vote via mobile site and website, simply register on africamagic.tv/bbvote.

President Buhari: Agriculture living up to our expectation as job creator

President Muhammadu Buhari has expressed satisfaction with the growing role of agriculture as a strategy for jobs creation among young Nigerians.
Speaking while receiving Mr. Boukekri Rmilli, the Foreign Minister of Tunisia at the State House in Abuja on Tuesday, President Buhari said his administration will increase its support for agriculture as a mechanism for jobs creation.
“We are trying very hard to provide jobs, for our youths. We are investing heavily in agriculture.
“Following the uncertainty in the oil market and the huge unemployment situation in the country, we chose to put our fate in agriculture. I am glad that our young people are accepting agriculture instead of waiting for white-collar jobs. They are out there sweating it out in the sun, making a living. Agriculture is the way to go, even when we are realising this almost belatedly,” the President said.
He added that the administration recognises the progress Tunisia has made in agriculture, tourism and medical health, and will shortly, from now, raise a team to visit that country to identify sectors in which the two countries can work together.
In this regard, he expressed happiness with the resuscitation of the Nigeria – Tunisia Binational Commission which was attended by a large delegation of businessmen and prospective investors.
Mr. Rmilli, who is also the leader of the delegation of businessmen, informed the President that his country is anxious to grow trade relationships with Nigeria.
He expressed satisfaction with the large number of local business men who turned up for the Nigeria – Tunisia Business Forum on Monday in Abuja.
The Minister delivered a special message to President Buhari, in which Mr. Beji Caid Essebsi, President of Tunisia, congratulated the Nigerian leader on his achievements in security, economy and role in Africa.

5 months after, Davido remembers his friend, Tagbo Umeike

Award-winning singer Davido took to his  Instagram page, Tuesday, march 13, to remember his friend, Tagbo Umeike who died in controversial circumstances in October, last year.
During the time of his Tagbo’s death, Actress Caroline Danjuma called out Davido on social media over Tagbo’s death. The singer was also invited by the Lagos state police command for questioning but the police have since cleared Davido.
Davido attracted negative publicity last year following the sudden death of one of his friends, Tagbo Umeike. Tagbo reportedly died in a controversial circumstance on the eve of his birthday, with actress Caroline Danjuma, who is alleged to be the girlfriend of the deceased, claiming that Davido had questions to answer on Tagbo’s death.
Caroline Danjuma insisted that the singer and his friends abandoned Tagbo, wore caps to cover their faces and took to their heels.
Davido’s camp’s claim that his friend died after taking an excess of Tequila, a brand of alcoholic drink made from the blue agave plant was pooh-poohed by the result of the autopsy carried out on the deceased by the police. The result, according to the police, showed that Tagbo died of suffocation and not drunkenness.
Three days after Tagbo’s controversial death, the death of another friend of the singer, Olugbemiga Abiodun, aka DJ Olu who was also reported being a member of the young singer’s crew, and one Chime Amaechi, made headlines in the national dailies.

The rapper and diva, who in June gave birth to twins, will open the stadium tour on June 6 in the Welsh city of Cardiff.
The 36-date show will travel across Europe, including a Bastille Day show at the Stade de France in Paris, before a North American leg that closes on October 2 in Vancouver.
Beyonce announced the tour in a series of posts to her 112 million Instagram followers, including a black-and-white photo in which the couple poses sensually astride a motorcycle, an Old West-style bull's skull on the front.
She also posted a half-minute video of slow-motion footage of the two superstars, the reggae classic "I'm Still in Love With You" playing.
Jay-Z and Beyonce dubbed the tour "OTR II," a reference to their first co-headlining "On the Run" tour in 2014 which grossed some $100 million.
Beyonce is set to return to the stage in April to headline Coachella, the biggest-name US music festival, in her first performance since giving birth to the couple's second and third children.
For Jay-Z, the tour follows solo concerts to promote "4:44," his introspective last album in which he notably apologizes to Beyonce for infidelity.

Please convince your people that we are doing our best to solve attacks by armed herdsmen-- President appeals to Benue stakeholders

President Muhammadu Buhari has appealed to leaders of various groups in Benue State to convince their constituents that the Federal Government is doing its best to end the recurring attacks by armed herdsmen in various parts of the country.
Responding to remarks by various stakeholders during a Town Hall meeting in Government House, Makurdi, on Monday, the President also urged them to show restraint and allow the security agencies to handle the untenable situation.
According to him, “The governor and I, and others here know that we will leave one day, but the relationship between farmers and herders will continue. I urge you to keep in touch with them and advise them to live peacefully. Nigeria has over 250 ethnic groups with different cultures and nobody can question God for putting us together.”
President Buhari while noting that he was not in the habit of publicly rebuking his appointees as many would desire, said that he preferred to quietly “read the riot act” as he did to the Inspector General of Police (IGP) when the Benue attacks began.
The President disclosed that he even shared the IGP’s security report on the Benue crisis with Senators George Akume and Barnabas Gemade from the state.
Recalling his Civil War era memories with military officers from Benue State, he noted that his nostalgic experience with such persons would never allow him to do harm to the state.
President Buhari, while thanking God for the good rains, the successful efforts of the Minister of Agriculture, Audu Ogbeh, an indigene of Benue State, whom he described as “a great asset in my government,” said his administration would continue to empower farmers with loans by the Central Bank of Nigeria.
Expressing delight that the agricultural policy of his administration has led to 90 per cent reduction in rice importation, he commended Ebonyi, Lagos, Kebbi, Jigawa and Benue States for “doing extremely well.”
Reacting to what he called a “shopping list” by some stakeholders, the President enjoined them to pray for the economy to improve, noting that he would not make any promises during this trip. He, however, stressed that, “When coming back on campaign, if coming back on campaign, I may promise.”
Governor Samuel Ortom had thanked President Buhari for visiting and listening patiently to the representatives of socio-cultural groups, farmers, herdsmen, national and state legislators, former leaders and elder statesmen, among others, described him as “a father known for his integrity and fight for justice.”
Noting that the attacks by armed herdsmen predated the current administration, the governor said the recent attacks had displaced 170,000 people with children of school age constituting 60 per cent.
He called for support for ranching, compensation for victims of the attacks and rebuilding of destroyed houses and farms, as well as the upgrading of the current military exercise to a “military operation.”
Governor Ortom also appealed to the Federal Government to fix some major roads in the state and take over the state polytechnic and college of education among other demands.
