The Nigerian Film Corporation,NFC, on
Monday, commenced the first quarter of its film training workshop for
youths of Lagos State, in line with its mandate of training and
retraining of the required manpower for the film industry.
The workshop, which is doing at the
NFC's zonal office in Lagos, drawn participants from the 57 Local
Governments and Development Areas of the state.
Speaking at the opening of the
workshop, which has the likes of popular film maker, Alex Eyengho,
Yomi Olugbodi, Lohpon Pamela Obiageli, David Aquah among others
facilitators, the NFC Managing Director/Chief Executive, Dr Chidi
Maduekwe said the one-week training workshop would provide
opportunities for participants to horn their skills as well as
improve on their professional competencies, adding that trainees are
expected to apply new skills to be learnt and improve on their film
and television productions.
He said, it was the resolve of NFC to
sustain continuous training and retraining of participants and
operators within the sector with the objective of positioning them to
be entrepreneurs.
According to NFC boss, the regulatory
body is determined to sustain its relationship and help Lagos State
government as well as other state governments and government
agencies at all levels achieve their policies of youth
entrepreneurial employment which has become a national issue in the
past few years. " our focus is to develop strategic and
competent human resource, combined with skilled frontline capacities
which will be proactive in meeting modern day job creation
challenges," he said.
