Poised to bridge the gap between
academics and practical realities to business development and
management, particularly for young entrepreneurs, the leadership of
Masters in Business Administration Students’ Association (MBASA) of
University of Lagos have concluded plans to hold the maiden edition
of its business seminar with the theme: ‘Towards Business
Excellence – A Practical Orientation’, geared towards enhancing
and improving the output of young entrepreneurs.
Schedule to hold on Saturday, September
30 beginning from 9am, at the Academy Inn, Multi-Purpose Hall,
Agindigbi Ikeja, speakers at the event include seasoned consultants,
analysts, technocrats and business moguls Kola Adesina, Chairman
Egbin Power Plant, Leo Stan Ekeh, Chairman Zinox Technologies
Limited, and Wale Adediran, Group HR Director, Flour Mills Nigeria
Plc.
Others are Eunice Briamah, Business
Transformation Director, EXP Marketing Nigeria, David Apalo, CEO
Shelze Consulting, and Barr. Ladipo Johnson, President, African
Institute Enterprise of Development and Management, among others, who
are well equipped with tips to help young entrepreneurs, have better
approach in their day-to-day running of their businesses.
Speaking at a press conference to
herald the seminar, the President of the Association, Tunde Ojelabi,
stated that the initiative, the first of its kind since the
commencement of the MBA programme in the institution, was borne out
of an idea by the present students’ executive of the association to
organise something different for students.
He said, “We have noticed that there
is a very wide gap where practical achievements and academic theories
are concerned, especially when it comes to business development and
management, particularly as being thought in business schools. We are
trying to bridge this gap by correlating students’ learning and
theories in the classroom with industry achievements; reason we are
bringing seasoned industry experts to tell us as young entrepreneurs
and business managers, what it took to achieve the level of success
they have achieved in the careers.”
Stressing the importance of the
importance of bridging the gap between academics and practical
realities of life, the General Secretary of the Association, Olatunde
Ayodele said: “Business is a practical endeavor, and it is a known
fact that to excel in our far reaching, highly competitive and
dynamic business environment, experience, focus and dedication is
what comes to bear.”
In his remark, the Public Relations
Officer of the Association, Akinsanmi Olusimirin, explained that the
selected speakers are people with proven track records and they are
well equipped with tips to help young entrepreneurs have better
approach in their day-to-day running of their businesses.
