Following the success of its previous
regional auditions, Life Continental Beer held its fourth regional
auditions for Hi-Life Fest on Sunday June 11, 2017 in Aba.
Registrations and auditions held from June 5 – 8, 2017 at C.S Park
148/156, Market Road by Georges, Aba, leading up to the semi-final
regional audition at the same venue on June 9.
Judges consisting of Highlife legend,
Bright Chimezie, OAP Dea Mike, and music composer, David Jones
witnessed the regional performances while also engaging the audience
in selecting the best Highlife acts at the event.
The winner of the auditions in Aba,
Kingsley Onuoha aka Konga Boy expressed his excitement saying: “Life
Continental Beer has given a voice to upcoming Highlife artistes, and
I am grateful for that. Emerging as the regional winner in Aba makes
me happy and I am confident about the grand finale.” He joins Chibest David, Roselyn Akpan
and Umunnakwe Nwajiaku from Enugu, Port Harcourt and Owerri
respectively as they proceed to the grand finale in Onitsha where the
overall winner will be rewarded with the sum of N1million and a
one-year recording deal.
Speaking at the Regional Final, Ben
Umeh, Regional Business Manager, Aba, Nigerian Breweries Plc.
reaffirmed the brand’s commitment to the progress and culture of
the people of the South-east.
“Highlife music remains relevant to
our consumers, and the Hi-Life Fest serves as a reminder to them of
our brand’s commitment to their way of life and progress. We are
glad we put this together to remind the Easterners especially the
younger generation of this rich heritage,” Umeh said.
