Chief Eddie Ugbomah and NFVCB boss, Alhaji Thomas |
The newly appointed Executive Director
of the National Film and Video Censors Board, NFVCB, Alhaji Adedayo
Thomas has challenged the staff of the Board in the South West Zone
to think out new ways of generating revenue for the organization.
Thomas stated this, when he paid a
maiden visit to the Lagos office of the Board. He said, he was not
happy with what he saw on ground when he resumed duties at the head
office in Abuja.
He said that he was scared by the
signals he received from the staff, stressing that he is not a
Messiah.
According to the NFVCA boss, the
reception he received was an indirect signal about the enormity of
the job at hand. He stated that he was frightened by the enormity of
the job at hand, but assured the staff that everybody must buckle up
to move the Board forward.
Thomas, however, challenged the staff
to come out with ideas, on how to move the Board forward
He said that he wants a turnaround in
the Board within 90days, rather than the customary 100days.
He promised that once the financial
situation in the Board improves, the staff will equally benefit from
it. He noted that he was welcomed to the head office with the
news that the staff of the Zonal Office in Onitsha has been ejected
from their rented office for a debt of N1.5 million.
He advised the staff to eschew
tribalism and religious sentiments, and concentrate on their duties.
He told the staff he would introduce the Whistle Blower Policy in the
Board whereby a staff receives a certain percentage of any business
he or she generate using their contacts. The ED said he wants an
aggressive revenue drive without being a burden on the stakeholders.
