World Cup: Tonto Dikeh donates TV sets, decoders, others to prisons inmates



Jubilation rented the air at Suleja prison in Niger State during the week, as Nollywood actress, Tonto Dikeh donated relief materials, including two 52 inches plasma TV and cash to brighten the cloudy lives of inmates.
The actress, who was at the prison on Tuesday also donated other home appliances such as 3 ceiling fans, 2 pressing irons, 2 strong decorders and cash to inmates. The gesture was part of giveaway season to usher in her birthday.
Speaking during the visit, which she made under the auspice of Tonto Dike Foundation, the actress said inmates deserve to be happy in spite of their condition. The foundation, which is her humanitarian initiative, empowers and provides succour to the less privileged and vulnerable Nigerians.
In an Instagram post, on Wednesday, Tonto Dikeh said “The prison controller in charge of Sulejah prison could not hold his joy. The inmates burst into celebration as they had not watched television for years. It is an opportunity for them to watch world events like the world cup and other religious channels.” The actress, however, urged the inmates to be prayerful and hopeful, adding that if God gives them a second chance they should abstain from crimes and be law abiding citizens. She also encouraged them to learn skills so that when they are out of prison they could earn a living from the skills acquired. A philanthropist and humanitarian actress who is also a NAPTIP ambassador and girl-child advocate, Tonto Dikeh promised to always do her best to support the prison inmates and the authorities.
