Nollywood comedian, John Okafor,
popularly known as Mr Ibu will live to retell his story after he was
held hostage Sunday evening by Area Boys a.k.a Agberos in
Surulere, Lagos.
The comic actor,
had stormed Ayinde Giwa Street, Off Masha in Surulere, venue of the
dedication party of the National President of Actors Guild of
Nigeria,AGN, Mr. Emeka Rollas' new born baby.
No sooner Mr. Ibu
arrived the venue with his entourage than his fans suddenly besieged
the area.
The
over anxious fans thronged the street including the Area
Boys and within minutes crowded
the actor like bees on a honeypot with some pressing to touch their
idol.
Spotting Mr Ibu, as
he was making his way to his black Vennza Toyota SUV, the Area Boys
blocked him and immediately closed the street gate, asking him to
bless them. “Mr. Ibu can't to this area and left without blessing
us...”, they kept shouting.
In fact, every
effort made by his entourage as well as his host fell on deaf as Mr.
Ibu was later compelled to part with some money before they allowed
to leave the place. Nonetheless, the dedication party was one in
town. It had in attendance, some big names in Nollywood, including
actress, Ifeoma Okeke, Mr Ifeany Dike, BoT Chairman,AGN, Sunny
Macdon, Secretary General, AGN-BoT, actress Ijeoma Imo, Boma
Arinyedokiari among others. However, despite the mild drama, Mr. Ibu
had a swell time at the event.
