Nominees for The Future Awards Africa
2017 were yesterday hosted to a reception at Banana Island, Lagos.
Supported by the Ford Foundation, the event also saw the presentation
of certificates to the nominees.
Anchored by Gbenga Aborowa, the
reception is one of the events leading up to the 12th edition of the
Awards set for Saturday, 9 December, 2017 at the Federal Palace
Hotel, Lagos.
Speaking at the event, the Chairman,
Central Working Committee, The Future Awards Africa, Bukunyi
Olateru-Olagbegi said, “We revamped the awards this year to focus
on Nigeria, to present and recognise young people who are creating
better narratives and stories about the country through their work.
While we seek to inspire Africans through experiences and motivation,
we will also be showcasing Nigeria to the world through exceptional
individuals leading the charge and impacting their communities.”
Personalities at the event include Ubi
Franklin, Bovi, Akah Nnani, Olive Emordi, Mary Njoku, Eunice Omole,
Ini Dima Okojie, and Emem Ema. Peter Okoye was guest speaker at the
reception while artiste, Jeff Akoh performed.
Covering 21 categories with 105
nominees selected by The Central Working Committee, the TFAA seek to
acknowledge inspiring young Nigerians aged 18-31 making a difference
through social enterprise, social good, and creativity.
