The new exciting Telenovela
‘Battleground’ that has been making waves on DSVT platform since
its inception, May 2017 has continued to delight and wow its audience
every weeknight with interesting episode after episode.
With impressive production quality that
include sound quality, clarity picture, great scripts and good
editing, the star-studded home movie which has just celebrated its
100th episode has now become a part of pop culture and have kept fans
glued to their seats eagerly awaiting the next venture into the
‘Battleground’ world. Though Battleground portrays a contemporary
story, it has been compared to ‘Checkmate’ the highly successful
Nigerian TV Series of the early 90s’.
In the Battleground, the enlivening
characters in the multi-layered and controversial life of the wealthy
Bhadmus Family and its associates, played by seasoned and new actors
such as Joke Silva, Shaffy Bello, Kunle Coker, Gbenga Titiloye, Yinka
Davies, Ini Dima-Okojie, and Chike Osebuka amongst others are
certainly relatable to the general audience.
Mayowa Oluyeba, Series Producer for the
show says; “By nature, people want to connect with others on some
level or another. If you give the viewer a reason to empathize with
your subject, they'll want to stick around to see what happens to
them.”
Speaking on wider viewership success,
Oluyeba said; “The most important part of character development is
to form an emotional connection between the viewer and your
character. Establishing this connection should be done as you
introduce the character. However you cannot produce great content
without the right equipment”.
In evaluation of character development,
Oluyeba asserted that Battleground’s ever-increasing success even
after more than a 100 episodes is a testament to this fact, more so,
a success in the development of your subject, will create a more
compelling story.
