Nollywood practitioners set to storm US for Int'l film summit ...as organizers unveil speakers

Key stakeholders in the Nigerian film industry are expected to storm the beautiful city of Los Angeles, California, from November 2 through 5, for the Nigerian International Film Summit during the world’s biggest film market- The American Film Market.
This is essentially a business summit focusing on the film business in Nigeria. The primary aim of the summit is to promote business driven conversations and meetings on the opportunities, possibilities and challenges revolving around the business of film in Nigeria for international distributors, buyers and film investors. It also seeks to promote how fast the local Nollywood film industry is evolving to meet with international production standards and expectations among other topical issues relating to the Nigerian film industry.
Founder of the NIFS, Ijeoma Onah expressed her excitement at the traction gained by the NIFS Summit locally as key stakeholders in the Nigeria film business including independent producers, distributors and exhibitors have embraced the event which is expected to promote and reposition the local film business in Nigeria for international cross-overs and global film business
Speaking at press conference held in Lagos, the lineup of over 30 speakers unveiled includes film industry executives from Nigeria US, France, Ghana and South Africa a who are very knowledgeable about the Nigerian film industry and have various levels of business interests in Nigeria. The Key note addresses will be delivered by Lai Mohammed, Nigeria’s Minister of Information on the commitment of Nigerian government towards providing enabling environment for investments into the film ecosystem. Pioneer of the presently celebrated film business and Founder of the Silverbird Group Senator Ben Murray- Bruce will provide insight during his keynote into the journey so far, highlighting the possibilities, opportunities and challenges of film business in Nigeria.
The official partners for NIF Summit include, The Silverbird Group, owners of Nigeria’s biggest cinema chain Silverbird Film Distribution and the only African studio in Hollywood as Dream Magic Studio. Founder of Silverbird Group Senator Ben Murray Bruce was excited about the summit, saying “am all in for this NIF Summit because its seeks to promote, showcase and spotlight Nigeria at the global film market and this is a highly commendable initiative. Senator Ben Bruce emphasized that ” Silverbird Group is committed towards ensuring the growth of the Nigerian Film industry as we harness both local and international potentials” Other NIFS official partners are Nigeria’s Bank of Industry , PWC, Ascend Talent Management, Jambo TV/ Jambo Play Filmhouse / IMAX Cinemas and Filmone Distribution. Group Managing Director of Filmhouse Cinemas Kene Mparu had this to say about the NIF Summit partnership “There is a reason we are called Filmhouse.
