Nollywood actor, Kate Henshaw is having
a swell time presently. She's shutting between London and Lagos, and
the good news is that has been unveiled by Rotary club as Nigeria's
Polio eradication celebrity Ambassador.
Kate Henshaw is being commended for her
determination in making polio eradication a reality in the country.
According to Dr. Wale Ogunbadejo, the
District Governor, International Polio Plus Committee ( IPPC),
“Henshaw being a celebrity in Africa, we commend your selfless
efforts and determination to be the face of polio eradication in
Nigeria and globally."
"Polio is endemic in only three
countries and affects less than 100 children yearly. We have
achieved about 99.9% success so far,”he added.
Overwhelmed by the gesture, Henshaw
said "Service to humanity is unending task that must be
continuous. Despite our celebration of one year free of Polio in
Nigeria, I will do my best as a Polio ambassador in making sure our
leaders comply with Rotary agenda of eradicating polio in Nigeria."
She added: " If Rotary could start
through a compassionate individual to impact lives and society to
become 1.2 million Rotarian, I believe I should be part of the people
that put smile on faces of people globally." Meanwhile,
McGovern, the international Chair commended Dr. Tunji Funsho,
national chair of Rotary Polio Plus in Nigeria for his commitment to
ending Polio in Nigeria.
