Former military President, General Ibrahim Babangida played host to a gamut of Nigerian political bigwigs today, May 12, in his country home, in Minna, Niger State, as his last daughter, Halima got married to her hubby, Auwal Abdullai.
The event saw 26 private jets, four
police and air force aircraft to name a few, with various dignitaries
flooding the event.
Halima who is the last daughter of the
former military leader, born to him by his late wife Maryam, got married to her fiance, Auwal Abdullai, the sarkin Sudan of Gombe who
is also a businessman.
The ceremony took place at the Hilltop
Villa of the former military President in Minna and commenced at 2.30
pm, after the weekly Juma'at prayers.
Among the many dignitaries in
attendance were former President Goodluck Jonathan, his wife; Namadi
Sambo, former vice-president; Senate President Bukola Saraki; Bola
Tinubu, national leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC); and
Pius Anyim, former secretary of the government of the federation.
Ibrahim Shema, Katsina, Abubakar
Dakingari, Kebbi, Aliyu Wammako, Sokoto, and Rabiu Kwankwaso, Kano
were also there.
Idris Kutigi, former chief justice of
the federation, Ahmed Yayale, former head of service, and Ben Obi, a
former senator, were also in Minna for the event.
The likes of Ibrahim Haruna, chairman,
IBB Golf Club, Sani Zangon Daura, and Aliko Dangote also made an
appearance, as well as former ministers, serving and former senators,
amongst others.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN)
reports that Abdullahi paid a bride price of N500,000 and 10 cows.
The handing over of Halima to Abdullahi
was reportedly carried out by a former minister of information in the
Shagari administration, Garba Wushishi.
Governor of Gombe State, Ibrahim
Dankwanbo, received the bride on behalf of the groom.
