Organizers of Igbo Awards and Lolo Igbo
Cultural Pageant, Vinen Shield
Limited Enugu, have announced that it
will honour ex-Super Eagles skipper and former coach Christian Chukwu
and first Vice Chancellor of University of Ibadan, Professor Kenneth
Dike.
It will also give posthumous award to
late ace singer Nelly Uchendu, in its 2017 edition of Igbo Awards
to be held later in the year.

ThankGod Ofoelue said that all those to be honoured in the Awards
deserves them meritoriously.
He explained that Igbo Awards is a
recognition award designed to honour, reward and celebrate
illustrious sons and daughters of the Igbo nation that have
distinguished themselves in different areas of life endeavor.
“It is designed to project the Igbo
identity, promote hard work and compliment the sincerity of the Igbo
nation and present them at the front burner as people with relentless
zeal to succeed in any chosen field," said Ofoelue
Past beneficiaries of the award include
Veteran Actor Pete Edochie, fomer minister for Powe Prof. Barth
Nnaji, Anglican Archbishop Olisaemeka Chukwuma, veteran Musician Mike
Ejeagha and Lady Ifeyinwa Ezenwa.
Ofoelue recalled that Igbo grammarian
Mazi FC Ogbalu is also one of those who have been given a
posthumous award.
Similarly, a student of Godfrey Okoye
University Enugu, Miss Chekwube Ugwuanyi has emerged the new cultural
queen for Enugu state.
Ofoelue said the pageant was instituted
in order to exalt the dignity of the Igbo women.
