Omoni Oboli’s recently released
“Okafor’s Law” is breaking new grounds at the Nigerian box
office.
The movie opened to cinema lovers on
Friday, March 31, 2017 and has displaced all other movies, including
the Hollywood movies such as John Wick, Beauty and the Beast, Kung:
Skull Island, Life, Logan and others.
After suffering a setback from lawsuit
inhibiting it from premiering and showing at the cinemas, fears of
the movie failing to make a statement was obvious but the first week
showing countered those fears. Halls were sold out and additional
halls were allotted in Ibadan, Ilorin, Kano and other cinemas. The
movie is arguably the highest selling movie at the Nigerian cinemas
right now.
Omoni Oboli, who has been touring
different cinemas across different states in Nigeria, has expressed
surprise at how the fans accepted the movie despite initial setback.
“Actors in Okafor’s Law have been visiting the cinemas at
different locations and we have all been surprised at the reception
from fans across the country. Truth be told, the tickets have been
sold out everywhere we went and we just want this to continue for as
long as possible. I am grateful to God for his blessings”, Omoni
Oboli said.
“Okafor’s Law” tells the story
Terminator (Blossom Chukwujekwu), a known playboy who was challenged
that he could not sleep with three of his Exes who had moved on. He
has to carry out the bet in less than 21 days. He decided to prove
the existence of Okafor’s Law but his quest revealed more than he
bargained for.
