Ace comic actor, Victor Osuagwu and his
partner, Silas Ugochukwu have revealed plans to embark on talents
hunt in order to give budding talents in the country to announce
themselves to the world.
The duo intend to accomplish this
onerous task through their newly formed Nollywood Comedy Club, which
currently boasts of more 7,000 membership strength.
Osuagwu and Orikoha made this known,
recently while unveiling the official logo of the club in Lagos.
According to the humour merchant, the
club which was formed last December to provide a platform for
aspiring stars to showcase their talents is growing in leaps and
bounds.
Osuagwu said,“Trying to make a name
was quite tough for many of us back then because not many people
wanted to give us the necessary support. Having experienced this and
seeing what many of today’s youths are passing through, we decided
to create this platform to address that problem.
“At the moment, we have created a
television series with shooting going on in Port Harcourt, Rivers
State. Over the next few weeks, we shall be going round the country
to hunt for new talents. It is our own little way of giving back to
the industry that has made us stars.”
Co-founder of the club, Silas
Ugochukwu, said they have erected proper structures to ensure that
the initiative operates without hitch while striving to achieve its
main targets.
“You don’t have to be a comedian to
be a member. That does not mean that AGN does not exist. One of the
criteria is to be a member of AGN before you become our member. We
have representatives in all the states of the federation. We have
also registered another organisation with some people we called
Nollywood Health and Entertainment Limited. Under this platform, we
will be treating all health related issues. We will be doing
seminars, lectures, summit and even awards on health. Our way of life
affects our health.”
