As the Globacom-sponsored TV drama
Series, Professor Johnbull, goes on air this week, viewers will be
treated to the battle of wits between two major characters in the
sitcom, Yomi Fash-Lanso (Olaniyi) and Ime Bishop (Etuk).
The two characters will deploy all
arsenal at their disposal to outdo each other in the contest for the
chairmanship of the hospitality board in their locality.
This is the plot woven by the producers
of the series this week as attention shifts to the political class in
a bid to expose the penchant by politicians to make unrealistic
campaign promises.
The episode is entitled Campaign
Promises and will be aired on Tuesday, on NTA network, NTA
International on DSTV Channel 251 and NTA on StarTimes. The repeat
broadcast will also come up on Friday on the same stations.
Lead character, Professor Johnbull
(Kanayo O. Kanayo), and other regulars in the series including Caro
(Mercy Johnson Okojie) Churchill (Jnr. Pope Odonwodo), Flash (Stephen
Odimgbe), Mai Doya (Funky Mallam), Samson (Ogus Baba), Abadnego
(Martins Nebo), Ufoma (Bimbo Akintola) and Jumoke (Bimbo Kosoko) also
featured in the episode. The episode examines issues such as
unrealistic campaign promises, relevance of a person’s ethnicity in
electoral contests, reasons for political violence, high cost of
campaigns, amongst others. Globacom, in a statement issued in Lagos
on Monday, urged viewers to watch Campaign Promises as they are
assured a full dose of laughter even as the episode tries "to
reawaken the people's consciousness to the roles they are expected to
play before, during and after elections."
